The global travel and tourism industry, which has been struggling to rebound from the COVID-19 pandemic induced slowdown, is facing another setback with a significant drop in deal activity. The industry, which relies heavily on investment and strategic partnerships, saw a steep year-on-year (YoY) 60.4 percent decline in deal activity in February of this year, revealed GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.

Cyprus arrivals of tourists reached 184.263 in March of this year, compared to 128.840 in March 2022, recording an increase of 43 percent. For the period of January – March, arrivals of tourists totalled 393.893 compared to 244.705 in the corresponding period of 2022, recording an increase of 61 percent.

On the basis of the results of the Passenger Survey carried out by the Statistical Service, revenue from tourism in Cyprus reached EUR45,6 million this January compared to EUR28,2 million in the corresponding month of the 2022, recording an increase of 61,7 percent.

According to the results of the Cyprus Labour Force Survey (LFS), the labour force in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2022 amounted to 489.650 persons or 65,5 percent of the population (males 71 percent females’ 60,4 percent) in comparison to 473.537 persons (64,5 percent) in the corresponding quarter of 2021.
