On the basis of the results of the Cyprus Passenger Survey carried out by the Statistical Service, revenue from tourism in Cyprus in May of this year reached EUR76,7 million compared to zero revenue from tourism recorded in May 2020, a period during which measures were implemented to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) in Cyprus.

On the basis of the results of the survey carried out by the Cyprus Statistical Service for the collection of data on scientific research and experimental development, total research and development (R&D) expenditure in Cyprus in 2019 is estimated at EUR164,4 million which corresponds to 0,74 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP), compared to EUR133,1 million or 0,62 percent of the GDP in 2018.

 The theme of the conference was ‘Act Local, Think Global: A Roadmap for Recovery’ – primarily focusing on the tourism industry’s resumption and new prospects following the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, while emphasising the latest local and international developments and trends. Participants were offered a glimpse into City of Dreams Mediterranean’s luxurious facilities at Melco Cyprus’ booth at the Exhibition.

 The pinnacle of Melco’s investment in Cyprus, City of Dreams Mediterranean, will be Cyprus’ first integrated resort and the largest in Europe and is set to open its doors to the public in summer 2022.
