Tourist Arrivals and Returns of Residents of Cyprus from Trips Abroad for March Announced

Cyprus tourist arrivals reached 202.256 in March of this year compared to 184.263 in March 2023, recording an increase of 9,8 percent. For the period of January – March, arrivals of tourists totalled 415.251 compared to 393.893 in the corresponding period of 2023, recording an increase of 5,4 percent.

Arrivals from the UK were the main source of tourism for March, with a share of 31,8 percent (64.414) of total arrivals, followed by Poland with 10,4 percent (21.054), Germany with 9,8 percent (19.732), Greece with 9,1 percent (18.361) and Israel with 8,2 percent (16.620).

For a percentage of 76, percent of tourists, the purpose of their trip in March was holidays, for 13,1 percent visit to friends and relatives and for 10,7 percent business. Respectively, in March 2023, 71,6 percent of tourists visited Cyprus for holidays, 14,9 percent visited friends or relatives and 13,3 percent visited Cyprus for business reasons.

A total number of 128.085 residents of Cyprus returned from a trip abroad in March compared to 113.805 in the corresponding month in 2023, recording an increase of 12,5 percent. The main countries from which residents of Cyprus returned in March were Greece with a share of 32,8 percent (42.046), the UK with 12,8 percent (16.366) and Italy with 5,4 percent (6.916).

The purpose of travel for the residents of Cyprus in March was mainly holidays, with a percentage of 70,5 percent, whilst business reasons held a percentage of 19,7 percent, studies 8,4 percent and other reasons 1,4 percent.
