Q & A with George Diogenous, Owner, Oinoessa Traditional Boutique Guest Houses, Lofou

LOCATED IN THE CHARMING VILLAGE OF LOFOU, OINOESSA TRADITIONAL BOUTIQUE GUEST HOUSES OFFERS A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE TO BOTH INTERNATIONAL AS WELL AS DOMESTIC VISITORS.

GEORGE DIOGENOUS, OWNER, OINOESSA TRADITIONAL BOUTIQUE GUEST HOUSES, LOFOU, TALKS ABOUT THE PROPERTY’S ROLE IN ENHANCING THE CYPRIOT TOURISM PRODUCT.

TRAVEL TRADE CYPRUS: How would you describe your clientele?

GEORGE DIOGENOUS: We do offer a unique experience to both international as well as domestic visitors.

Our objective is to make our visitors feel at home and relax from the stresses of modern day life.

Our main markets are couples, families or groups who enjoy peace and privacy and want to explore the traditions of Cyprus.

Lofou village is one of the most scenic and unspoilt areas of Cyprus and can offer peace and tranquility to visitors.

TRAVEL TRADE CYPRUS: What kind of amenities and activities are available?

GEORGE DIOGENOUS: Each of our six studio apartments have been elegantly and stylishly decorated and designed to provide all of the modern amenities and conveniences needed for the guests’ comfort and relaxation during their stay.

All studios are autonomous and have their own bathroom, living room and fully-equipped kitchen. Air-conditioning, LED TV, DVD player, safe box, freezer and fridge are also provided in each of our six studios.

The fireplace is an extra asset that five of our studios have.

Another great detail is that each room has a selection of all time classic movies and books to keep our guests company.

There is an array of outdoor activities, such as visiting the historical monuments and churches of the village, walking along the beautiful nature paths, visiting local taverns to experience authentic Cypriot cuisine, traditional coffee shops, fishing near Kouris dam or hiking in Troodos that is close to the village. […]

TRAVEL TRADE CYPRUS: Please tell us about your recent projects.

GEORGE DIOGENOUS: The property has recently welcomed to its family a lovely reception, a room that we did not have until now. We are now able to have onsite staff that can help and provide maintenance to our guests at all times.

Currently we are renovating the bathrooms of our two studios named Archontico and Anogeio.

We will place Jacuzzis in both bathrooms and we will decorate it in such a way, as to make you feel something extraordinary.

When it comes to our guests, relaxation is our main objective, so we really emphasise on how to achieve it.

The property is also undergoing the construction of two new rooms, which we plan to have ready by June 2017. Both rooms will have mountain views and will share a little private courtyard.

Paying attention to the design and detail, we promise to offer something exceptional. A Jacuzzi in front of the fireplace is something that we are certain our guests will love, and we are really looking forward to introducing it in 2017.

Something else that we are currently working on is the construction of a horse riding club Guests will have the opportunity to go for a ride and learn how to ride a horse with one of the leading instructors of Greece who we are very happy to have on our team.

TRAVEL TRADE CYPRUS: Cyprus is often seen as a sun-sea-sand destination. In your opinion, how important is it to showcase other aspects of the island in order to further enhance the destination’s image?

GEORGE DIOGENOUS: Indeed. Cyprus is well-known and most preferred for its beautiful beaches and year-round sun.

Fortunately, Cyprus’ beauty does not stop there.

There is a lot more to explore and visit on the island that will take your breath away.

The Troodos mountain and the villages around it [for example] all have something different to offer. Lofou, for instance, stands out because of the unique architecture, its narrow mazed structure and its local cuisine – keeping Cypriot traditions alive.

TRAVEL TRADE CYPRUS: Please tell us about your long-term plans.

GEORGE DIOGENOUS: Oinoessa has been accommodating guests since 2013. Every day we work on improving our offerings.

[…] We are planning on making our properties as green as possible, offering only organic food and drinks, soaps and so on. We are also in the making of creating an organic garden that all our guests will be able to visit during their stay.

Our long-term plan, except from the expansion of our property, is to keep our standards high and continue to make our guests as happy as possible when visiting the beautiful unspoilt village of Lofou.
