Minister of Foreign Affairs Attended Forum in Barcelona

Nikos Christodoulides, minister of foreign affairs, Cyprus, participated in the 3rd Regional Forum of the Union for the Mediterranean which took place October 08, in Barcelona.

The forum included the participation of 25 foreign ministers from the European Union (EU) and the region and in the presence of the EU high representative for foreign affairs and security Policy, Federica Mogherini.

During the Forum, ministers have, inter alia, taken stock of the actions and achievements of the union for the Mediterranean over the past 10 years since it was founded and exchange views on the future course of the union, based on the objectives set out by the participating states.

While in Spain, Christodoulides held a meeting with the Spanish minister of foreign affairs, the European Union and Cooperation, Josep Borrell, during which discussions were focussed on bilateral relations between Cyprus and Spain, as well as on issues pertaining to developments at a regional and European level, such as relations between the European Union and Turkey and the state of play in the Cyprus problem.

From Barcelona, the foreign minister travelled on to Crete, where he was accompanied by the Nicos Anastasiades, president of the Republic of Cyprus, to the 6th Cyprus – Egypt – Greece Trilateral Summit that took place there on October 10.
