January to April Tourist Arrivals Highest Ever – CyStat

There was a 9.7 percent increase in tourist arrivals to Cyprus during April this year, creating the highest volume ever recorded for the specific month and contributing to the highest volume ever recorded for the first four months of the year.

On the basis of the results of Statistical Service of Cyprus’ (CyStat), tourist arrivals reached 314,143 in April compared to 286,331 in April 2017, recording an increase of 9.7 percent.

For the period of January to April, tourist arrivals totalled 683,581 compared to 572,024 in the corresponding period of 2017, recording an increase of 19.5 percent and outnumbering the total arrivals ever recorded in Cyprus during the first four months of the year.

Tourist arrivals from the UK increased by 4.1 percent in April compared to April 2017 while an increase of 4.3 percent was recorded for tourists from Russia.

Increases were also recorded from other important tourist markets, such as Greece (25.1 percent) and Sweden (42.9 percent).

There was, however, a decrease of 17.5 percent in tourist arrivals from Germany and a 21.4 percent decrease from Israel.

The UK constituted the main source of tourism for Cyprus for April this year, with a proportion of 35.2 percent.
