Cyprus Attends WHO Health Meeting

Cyprus recently participated in World Health Organization’s (WHO) fifth high-level meeting of small countries.

The theme of the June 26 – 27 event in Reykjavik, Iceland was Working together for better health and well-being for all.

Also participating were Malta, Luxembourg, Iceland, Andorra, San Marino, Montenegro and Monaco.

Representatives of the eight nations, among other things, discussed environment and health challenges, with a focus on climate change and water.

The Iceland Statement was adopted as a result, which sees the member states committing to take joint and national-level action to ensure the safe and viable provision of water that would not be dependent on climate change.

The high-level meetings of small countries began on the initiative of San Marino in 2013 for countries with populations of under one million.
