ACTA: Positive Performance and Future Challenges in Tourism

Speaking at ACTA's 64th Annual General Meeting, Vasilis Stamataris, president, Association of Cyprus Travel Agents, said that “the current year has so far seen the best performance and the most promising prospects for further positive results.”

Specifically, total arrivals by July amounted to 2,184,775 while each calendar month of the year on its own displayed a historic high record of arrivals, compared to the corresponding months of any previous year. As reported, revenue for the first half of the year amounted to EUR996.4 million.

Meanwhile, Stamataris made special reference to the importance of the implementation of the National Tourism Strategy, which is now a catalyst for the modernisation of the tourism industry in Cyprus. Referring to the challenges of tourism, he stressed the need to continue to emphasise the quality of the country’s tourist product, and much more.
