Cyprus Statistical Service has documented a 9.4 percent year-on-year increase in the number of Cypriot residents taking international trips.

According to the findings of the Passengers Survey, 110,235 residents returned from a trip abroad in June compared to 100,764 in the corresponding month in 2016.

Trips to Greece, the most popular destination among Cypriot tourists, fell 0.1 percent. Meanwhile, the number of breaks to the UK soared 16.1 percent, rising from 21,530 in June 2016 to 24,998 this year, and visits to Russia jumped 51.8 percent. 

Moreover, the survey indicated that 57.2 percent of Cypriots travelled for leisure, while 22.5 percent and 18.2 percent went abroad for  business and studies, respectively.
