An official tri-party meeting between the Perdios, the minister of tourism of Greece Elena Kountoura, and the minister of tourism of Lebanon, Avedis Guidanian, was held in Beirut on April 10.
The meeting was held in an exceptionally cooperative climate and the creation of the International Sports and Tourism Organization for Peace & Prosperity (ISTO for P&P) was announced.
The main aim of the organisation is the advancement of world peace and prosperity through sports and tourism; factors that inspire and mobilise millions of civilians worldwide. The Organisation will, inter alia, promote sustainable development, social cohesion, gender equality, economic cooperation.
The ministry of tourism of Greece proposed the creation of the organisation, based in Athens. With the completion of the official incorporation procedure, the Organisation will be placed under the auspices of the WTO of the United Nations.
It is an honour for Cyprus, and a worth mention success for the deputy ministry of tourism in the first months since its establishment, to participate as a founding member of the International Sports and Tourism Organization for Peace & Prosperity, with Greece, Lebanon, Egypt, Bulgaria and Portugal.
Perdios embraces this important effort and will work intensively for its success as member of the Coordinating Committee.
