To find out more about consumer habits when it comes to family holiday car hire, DiscoverCars.com has analysed its internal data, examining data across 643 cities around the world focusing on where people are most likely to book a car for a family trip (based on child seat statistics).

The cities with the highest percentage of reservations with child car seats were the areas most likely to be booking a car for a family trip.

Interestingly, DiscoverCars.com’s internal data also revealed that there were 19 cities with more than 10 percent of car hires with child seats, the top being Cala Millor in the Spanish Balearic Islands at 27 percent.

Additionally, other cities in the top 10 for where people were most likely to hire a car for a family trip according to child seat statistics were:

1. Kyrenia (15.09 percent)
2. Reus (14.38 percent)
3. Tenerife (13.79 percent)
4. Gran Canaria (13.50 percent)
5. Fuerteventura (12.94 percent)

On the other hand, the data also highlighted the fact there were many cities where zero percent of car hires had a child seat, with the leader being New York with 477 reservations but zero percent having child seats. Even Ibiza which is traditionally known as a party city had five percent of hired cars with a car seat for a family vacation.

Other cities that had 0% of reservations with a child seat for a family trip were:

2. Buenos Aires (Argentina)
3. Reno (USA, Nevada)
4. Rennes (France)
5. Natal (Brazil)
