Larnaca Lionfish Gastronomy Event Larnaca Lionfish Gastronomy Event

Lionfish and Gastronomic Creations in Larnaca

An innovative event was held by the Larnaca Tourism Board on July 29, which was co-hosted by the Department of Fisheries and Marine Research, the Cyprus Chefs Association and the MER Lab.

The event, called Lionfish Culinary Fusion, aimed to inform the guests regarding the invasion of the lionfish in the seas of Cyprus, as well as to present proposals for turning this problem into an opportunity to work for the benefit of marine biodiversity.

In his greeting, Dinos Lefkaritis, president, Larnaca Tourism Board, stated that the company supports actions that contribute to the sustainable development of the new marine protected area of artificial reefs of Larnaca.

Lefkaritis also pointed out the fact that the two new shipwrecks have attracted marine life earlier than expected. He praised the contribution of the participating chefs, whom he congratulated, as through their hard work they raise the bar of gastronomy in the tourism industry of Larnaca.
