Ayia Napa Receives the Most Blue Flags in Cyprus

This year, Ayia Napa Municipality was awarded with the highest number of Blue Flags for beaches under its jurisdiction than any other municipality in Cyprus.

A May 31 ceremony at Kato Paphos’ Municipal Baths saw Ayia Napa receiving 14 Blue Flags out of 63 around Cyprus in recognition of its beach and bathing water quality.

Specifically, Blue Flags were awarded to Konnos, Limnara, Ammos tou Kampouri, Glyko Nero, Pantahou, Loukkos tou Manti, Katsarka, Pernera, Vathkia Gonia, Nissi, Nissi Bay, Lanta, Makronissos, and Ayia Thekla beaches.

An eco-label used around the world, the Blue Flag programme is operated under the auspices of the Denmark-headquartered Foundation for Environmental Education.

It challenges beach operators to achieve high standards in water quality, environmental management, environmental education and safety.
