Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) revealed that the island’s winter tourism season ended on a high note, with the period’s highest ever number of tourist arrivals reported between November 2017 and March this year.

According to the Statistical Service of Cyprus’ Passenger Survey, revenue from tourism in April reached EUR189.6 million, recording 37.5 percent increase compared to the EUR137.9 million received in the corresponding month of 2016.

According to data released by Aegean Airlines, international passenger traffic increased by 15 percent during April and May, compared to the corresponding period in 2016, with the carrier transporting 1.2 million passengers .

Tourism once again proved to be a major pillar of Cyprus’s socio-economic development with revenues generated by the industry surging 14.9 percent year-on-year between January and July.
