Despite a challenging beginning to the year, final results showed a 3.6 percent improvement, with Larnaka International Airport reporting a 1.6 percent growth with 5.3 million travellers, and Pafos International Airport seeing an 8.6 percent rise with 2.2 million guests.
During 2015, the country’s aviation industry faced the closure of Cyprus Airways and a reduction in Russian arrivals, both of which took 1.5 million seats off the market.
Nevertheless, with new airlines and routes, arrivals from Israel, Poland and Ukraine jumped 36.1 percent, 34.2 percent and 30.8 percent, respectively.
In addition, figures from the UK, Greece, Germany and Austria also showed increases.
