Tourist Arrivals and Returns of Residents of Cyprus from Trips Abroad for June Announced

The arrivals of tourists reached 482.261 in June of this year compared to 456.985 in June 2023, recording an increase of 5,5 percent. For the period of January – June, arrivals of tourists totalled 1.652.475 compared to 1.613.690 in the corresponding period of 2023, recording an increase of 2,4 percent.

Arrivals from the UK were the main source of tourism for June, with a share of 35,6 percent (171.704) of total arrivals, followed by Israel with 10,7 percent (51.814), Poland with 7,5 percent (36.202), Sweden with 4,9 percent (23.639) and Germany with 4,5 percent (21.552).

For a percentage of 83,4 percent of tourists, the purpose of their trip in June was holidays, for 10,5 percent visit to friends and relatives and for 5,9 percent business. Respectively, in June 2023, 81,7 percent of tourists visited Cyprus for holidays, 12,6 percent visited friends or relatives and 5,5 percent visited Cyprus for business reasons.

A total number of 136.739 residents of Cyprus returned from a trip abroad in June of this year compared to 138.588 in the corresponding month in 2023, recording a decrease of 1,3 percent. The main countries from which residents of Cyprus returned in June were Greece with a share of 37,5 percent (51.260), the UK with 11,9 percent (16.311) and Italy with 4,9 percent (6.641).

The purpose of travel for the residents of Cyprus in June was mainly holidays, with a percentage of 64,6 percent, whilst business reasons held a percentage of 24,2 percent, studies 10,1 percent and other reasons 1,1 percent.
