Tourist Arrivals and Returns of Residents of Cyprus from Trips Abroad for February Reported

The arrivals of tourists reached 125.034 this February compared to 119.081 in February 2023, recording an increase of five percent.

For the period of January – February of the current year, arrivals of tourists totalled 212.995 compared to 209.630 in the corresponding period of 2023, recording an increase of 1,6 percent.

Arrivals from the UK were the main source of tourism for February, with a share of 24,6 percent (30.774) of total arrivals, followed by Poland with 13,3 percent (16.591), Israel with 10,6 percent (13.290), and Greece with 10,3 percent (12.835).

For a percentage of 66,8 percent of tourists, the purpose of their trip in February was holidays, for 17,8 percent visit to friends and relatives and for 14,2 percent business. Respectively, in February 2023, 66,7 percent of tourists visited Cyprus for holidays, 20,1 percent visited friends or relatives and 13 percent visited Cyprus for business reasons.

A total number of 114.110 residents of Cyprus returned from a trip abroad in February compared to 102.001 in the corresponding month last year, recording an increase of 11,9 percent. The main countries from which residents of Cyprus returned in February 2024 were Greece with a share of 32 percent (36.481), the UK with 11,6 percent (13.288) and Italy with 4,6 percent (5.306).

The purpose of travel for the residents of Cyprus in February 2024 was mainly holidays, with a percentage of 70,6 percent, whilst business reasons held a percentage of 23,4 percent, studies 4,6 percent and other reasons 1,4 percent.
