Registration of Motor Vehicles: January 2023

The Cyprus Statistical Service announced the publication of the report entitled ‘Registration of Motor Vehicles’ for January 2023.

The main developments in January 2023 compared to the corresponding month of 2022 are summarised as follows:

(a) In January 2023, the total registrations of motor vehicles numbered 3.128 from 2.633 in January 2022, recording an increase of 18,8 percent.

(b) Passenger saloon cars increased to 2.493 from 2.147 in January 2022, recording a rise of 16,1 percent. Of the total passenger saloon cars, 1.273 or 51,1 percent were new and 1.220 or 48,9 percent were used cars. Rental cars in particular recorded a rise of 53,1 percent to 271.

(c) Motor coaches and buses registered in January 2023 increased to 11, from two in the same month of 2022.

(d) Goods conveyance vehicles increased by 25 percent to 350 in January 2023, compared to 280 in January 2022. In particular, light goods vehicles increased by 30,7 percent to 281, heavy goods vehicles by 44,8 percent to 42 and road tractors (units of trailers) by 225 percent to 13, while rental vehicles decreased by 56,3 percent to 14.

(e) Mopeds < 50cc registered in January 2023 increased to 12, from five in the corresponding month of the previous year.

(f) Mechanised cycles > 50cc increased by 19 percent to 207 in January 2023, compared to 174 in January 2022.
