Cyprus Tourist Arrivals for June Down

Cyprus’ arrivals of tourists reached 9,119 in June of this year compared to 509,662 in June 2019, recording a decrease of 98,2 percent.

For the period of January – June, arrivals of tourists totaled 255,675 compared to 1,631,023 in the corresponding period of 2019, recording a decrease of 84,3 percent.

It should be noted that in March of this year, an entry ban in the Republic was imposed on several categories of persons, including tourists, up to June 08, as part of the measures taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) in Cyprus.

Tourist arrivals from Greece decreased by 75,8 percent in June  compared to June 2019, while a decrease of 93,1 percent was also recorded for tourists from Germany, 93 percent decrease from Switzerland and 91,1 percent from Austria. Percentage changes from one year to the next for these countries.

For a percentage of 42,6 percent of tourists, the purpose of their trip in June  was holidays, for 28 percent visiting friends and relatives and for 29,4 percent for business reasons.
