The Mall of Cyprus recently hosted a literacy event promoting the sentiment, Because Literacy is a Human Right for Everybody.

The September 09 event included an exchange library by the Cyprus Organisation for Promoting Literacy that saw participants bring in one book to exchange for another.

According to data provided by UNESCO, Cyprus has a literacy rate of 99.1 percent. The global literacy rate for all people aged 15 and above is 86.3 percent. When it comes to males, the global rate rises to 90 percent, dropping to 82.7 percent for females.
