The Standing Committee on Economics and Sustainable Development of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) recently convened in Pissouri.

Demetris Syllouris, president, parliament, Cyprus, declared the two-day meeting’s opening on June 26.

The committee convened in Cyprus following the 2017 election of Nicos Tornaritis, member, Parliament, Cyprus in the position of vice president of the APA and president of the specific committee.

Over 90 delegates from 19 member states attended the meeting while the opening was also attended by the representatives of parliamentary political parties and embassies.

In his opening address, Syllouris, among other things, mentioned the importance Cyprus places on matters concerning energy and sustainable development as well as the promotion of closer cooperation between Asia and Europe on multiple levels.
