Four New Sculptures Gracing Ayia Napa

Four new sculptures were recently placed at selected spots around Ayia Napa.

According to an official Ayia Napa Municipality announcement, the sculptures are amongst the works created during the first phase of the Fifth International Sculpture Symposium which was held from October 30 – November 30, 2017.

The first two sculptures were put into place on February 28. The first, entitled, Mother and Child, now decorates the small roundabout at the entrance to Ayia Napa, opposite the community kindergarten. The work is by Belarusian artist Viktar Kopach.

The second, named, Gorgona (Mermaid), has been placed on the north side of the town’s harbour. It is a work by Ukrainian artist Lyudmyla Mysko.

The other two sculptures were put into place on March 1. They are; Ouranos kai Thalassas (Sky and Sea) on the south side of the harbour near the lighthouse, and Karavi (Boat). Both works are by Greek artist Besim Caushi.
