This is one of the largest projects in the Larnaca region, at a cost of approximately EUR2 million.
The project will include an amphitheatre, event venue, playground, large pedestrian street, green areas, planting of more than 200 trees, a car bridge, three pedestrian bridges and paving of the entire riverbed, with year-round running water in the centre of the riverbed. Work is expected to be completed by the end of 2021.
Pantelis Charalambous, president of the community, Tochni, said that this is a project that will significantly improve the image of Tochni and will greatly contribute to its further development as a tourist destination. Charalambous added that, “Tochni has unparalleled beauty and our aim is to enjoy it even more locals and foreigners".
Tochni, as a member of the Larnaka Tourism Board, aims to enhance the tourist flow in the village through a variety of actions. It is one of the most picturesque villages on the island and it is no coincidence that it ranks first in the number of rural accommodation attracting tourists mainly from Central Europe.
