Second Phase of Ayia Napa’s Sculpture Symposium Presented

More than 20 sculptures were presented by artists participating in the second phase of the fifth Sculpture Symposium of Ayia Napa Municipality on April 19.

Yannis Karousos, mayor, Ayia Napa, thanked the artists for the masterpieces they created and all those who contributed to the symposium.

He also informed the participants about the signing of a new agreement between Ayia Napa Municipality and Politia Armos, for the upgrading of Sculpture Park, Mediterranean Plant Park and Cave of Paleontological Findings.

The project aims to upgrade the area of the two parks and will be a centre of over-local interest that will attract many visitors both from Cyprus and from abroad.

At the same time, Maria Tofini Tsantila, cultural officer, Ayia Napa Municipality, stated that Sculpture Park started with a vision and with great love for culture.

"Despite the many difficulties we have encountered throughout the five years without having the specific knowledge required for this purpose, we continued to organise the symposium at a rapid pace,” added Tofini Tsantila.
