In December 2021, the number of commercial flights in the EU  increased by 130 percent compared with December 2020. However this is still below the pre-pandemic levels (-24 percent compared with December 2019). 

National flag carrier Cyprus Airways, now under Maltese ownership, has announced a third scheduled Moscow flight which commence on July 25.  

Malta is now offering quarantine-free travel for UAE residents, after Emirates has officially announced that it will resume three weekly services to Malta via Larnaca, Cyprus, starting July 14.

Cyprus Airways announced the launch of ticket sales for winter 2020 – 2021. The winter schedule includes Athens and Heraklion, as well as the addition of a new route Moscow - Larnaca. The Cypriot airline is also planning to resume flights to Tel Aviv, as soon as the situation with Covid-19 stabilises.
