Larnaca Tourism Board has digitised and revised the Thematic Bicycle Routes of Larnaca, with the aim of encouraging sustainable mobility.

Cyprus’ Department of Fisheries and Marine Research (TATHE) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, has informed the public about the beginning of the spawning season of sea turtles in Cyprus from mid-May until the end of September.

Two species of sea turtles breed on the beaches of Cyprus, the Green Turtle (Chelonia mydas and the Caretta caretta). In the Mediterranean, Green Turtles breed almost exclusively in Cyprus and Turkey. Caretta gives birth in Greece and in smaller numbers and in other Mediterranean countries.

Costa Smeralda, Costa Cruises’ flagship, left the port of Savona May 01, for a week-long cruise in Italy. It is the first ship of the Italian company to resume operations during this year, officially kicking off the summer season, which will see a total of four Costa ships cruising the Mediterranean.

Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, announced that it will resume its direct operations to Larnaca International Airport in Cyprus with two weekly flights starting from  June 15 of this year.

The island is ready to welcome the first cruise passengers on the basis of a health protocol that were in early May announced by Transport Minister Yiannis Karousos, transport minister, and the Vasilis Demetriades, deputy minister of shipping.

Cyprus Airways, the national flag carrier brand of Cyprus, continues to increase the number of flights from Larnaca with the launch of its new direct flights between Larnaca and Malta, enhancing Mediterranean interconnectivity.

A delegation of 65 politicians and journalists joined President Anastasiades on board a Cyprus Airways plane on April 26, as it departed for Geneva, and the airline returned the group on April 29, following the conclusion of the talks.
